What is the difference between Gymnastics Flipz and Cheer Tumbling?
The main difference is the purpose and style of the tumbling. In gymnastics, tumbling is more focused on individual performance, with routines that are fluid, artistic, and often include dance elements. The skills are performed on a spring floor or tumble track with an emphasis on form, flexibility, and presentation.
In cheer tumbling, the focus is on powerful, sharp, and fast skills that are done as part of a team routine. You will see a lot of standing tumbling and synchronized passes with other athletes. We also teach athletes to incorporate cheer motions, timing, and body control, so their tumbling fits cleanly into a cheer routine. It's less about artistry and more about strength, precision, and working in sync with a team.

Cheer Tumbling
Our Cheer Tumbling classes are designed specifically for athletes who want to build strong tumbling skills tailored for cheerleading. Unlike traditional gymnastics, cheer tumbling focuses on skills commonly used in cheer routines, such as back handsprings, round-offs, and tucks, with an emphasis on technique, power, and control.
In addition to tumbling, athletes will also learn and practice sharp cheer motions, arm placement, and body control to help them perform cleanly and confidently in routines. A key part of the class is working on timing and synchronization, so students not only master individual skills but also learn how to perform them in unison as part of a team—just like in real cheer performances. This class is perfect for athletes looking to improve their cheer-specific tumbling and overall routine execution.
